Mirzaei Lab Receives Canadian Cancer Society Emerging Scholar Research Grant

We are excited to announce that Dr. Reza Mirzaei has received an Emerging Scholar Research Grant from the Canadian Cancer Society to support our research on glioblastoma.

Tracking glioblastoma stem cells to find new treatments

Glioblastoma is an aggressive brain cancer with few treatment options and no approved immunotherapies. Our team is studying glioblastoma stem cells, which drive tumour growth and suppress anti-cancer immune responses.

Using genetic tagging to track tumour cell behaviour, we aim to understand how glioblastoma shuts off immune cells and identify ways to restore anti-tumour immunity, with the long-term goal of developing new therapeutic strategies for glioblastoma.
